and the Peru-ness continues...

Hello again from Cusco, Peru,

I thought I might share a few more pictures now that I have more loaded onto my computer. But first, a quick update. Time is flying by here, I cannot believe that I will be flying back into the US in just 14 days. I would like to think my Spanish is improving...I think I'm understanding more at least. I think the key with speaking is just to not be shy and just try. People most likely understand you even if the things you say aren't are perfect.

Today we got two more "host-siblings" in our house....Mike, from Holland and Jenny, from guess where...my homestate of Nebraska! How crazy (Que loco!) She is a Spanish teacher at Westside High School in Omaha. They are both doing volunteer work here for a month or so. They are nice and it has been fun to have our "family" expanding with more people.

Anyways, not much is new. Just going to classes, we had a ceramics class last Wednesday afternoon. It was fun but my little vase will probably not be anything to write home about. We are going to paint them next week, which, considering my lack of artistic skills, might make it look even worse. Friday we had salsa classes again and I think I am starting to get the hang of some of the steps. Yesterday our group took a day excursion on a bus to several different ruins and little towns around the Cusco area. They today I went to mass at the Cathedral on the Plaza, which was very beautiful. It so neat how Catholicism is the same everywhere, just in a different language. Its a cool feeling to be part of such a big picture.

Okay, now for the photos:

The guys who came to our school to teach us how to play the Zampona instrument:

Me at Macchu Pichu! After, we climbed the trek all the way to the top of the huge mountain in the background:

A cool picture of the Plaza de Armas, the main square in Cusco:
